Having worked in Taiwan for 15 years, we had a dream of running a private kitchen here after we retired. The original 5-year roadmap was to process the immigration of Richard’s 85-year-old Mom and 92-year-old Dad to Taiwan in 2017, then gradually realize the
“Project Private Kitchen”.
A heart broken stroke took our beloved Mom away on Kerry’s birthday last year.
“Project Private Kitchen” became the instant lever to bring widowed Dad to Taiwan as early as possible. With Mom’s blessings, the long-winded procedures ended within 4 months.
Mission impossible was made possible and catalyzed by Mom’s love.“Smiling Nest” – a spot for connecting friends and sensational dining experience. One Spring afternoon, at the corner of “Guandu.Nature Reserve”, we saw her – bathing in the breeze from Tamsui River, the 32-year-old beauty stood aside Guandu Plain in serenity. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the panorama view of the plain with the afar Taipei city in daybreak or sunset, and watch some migratory birds come and go.
We named her “Smiling Nest”.
“Smiling Nest” is a wonderland we sincerely built for our kin and friends to enjoy delighted homemade meals, relax and experience a different Taipei. She is a space for bliss and love.
During the building of “Smiling Nest”, our friends gave us plentiful marvelous ideas on making her more memorable and sensational.
“Smiling Nest” offers infinite possibilities and imagination.
“Smiling Nest” started its operations from Taiwan Father’s Day, August 8th, 2017.
December 2017, Kerry started “Smiling Faces Culinary Workshops” to share her approach of Hongkong style cuisine cooking.
